Default Fieldcrest Towels???

Hi, I went to Linen & Things to buy some Fieldcrest towels. Well I was told they went out of business. Well I looked and got 2 oversized bath towels, they cost $9.99 each. The brand is Supima Soft 100% Cotton made in the USA. Will these work?? I also bought a package of the yellow Micro Fiber Towels from Sam's. They are made in China and are 70/30. I was told the ones from Korea are better and they are 80/20. I just wanted to know you guy's feeling on these 2.

Thanks
Tom

Tom,

I think the intent behind the 'brand recommendation' was due to the higher purity requirements for "100% Cotton" by the USA. I took the approach that ANY 100% cotto Made in the USA would work. I found cheaper towels at Wal-Mart. I was there getting art supplies for my daughter and thought I'd try to find towels for my 'baby'. The large bath towel was like $3.99 but was 100% cotton and Made in the USA. That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

Good Luck Tom

Go to Westpoint-Stevens and get their Supima cotton towels. They are still made in USA.

They are the closest to Fieldcrest that I've found.

Also make sure the any stiching or binding is not polyester. You may need to do the burn/melt test to be sure but you can sometimes tell if the stiching feels or looks like plastic (that will scratch). If I'm in doubt about the binding I'll just cut it off.

The burn test is great. You can also try it on the actual nap. I've seen some cheap "100% cotton" towels that were obviously not 100% from the burn test. If something seems ultra cheap, you might try it out. But there are numerous towel brands that are great. If you have outlet stores near you, they can be great for getting hand-towel-sized towels on the cheap.
