My Corvette(s):
Default Replacements for ZF 6 Speed

I am considering purchasing a '90 Corvette with a six-speed, and in several other postings have noted my concerns with this transmission (e.g., reliability, need for dual mass flywheel, costs of repairs, rebuilds etc.). I was curious if anyone knew whether either the Richmond gear 6 speed or the t-56 might be substituted for the ZF?

Thanks,

I own two Vette's w/ the ZF6, (89 & 93) neither has issues as described - I know of none of the issues spoken of in any of the others - the single mass conversion is done for less rotating mass - Rebuilding the ZF correctly if ever needed is still cheaper than cannabalizing a Vette for one of the other trasmissions you named in hopes of fixing a problem that really does not exist - Hope this helps
