C1 1962 package tray and heater cover
Well my car never had either one. I had to order a replacement set up from Paragon Reproductions including the screws and the mounting brackets ,and it seems I have some drilling and fitting to do. I have an A.I.M but it just shows the parts. Could some one please post a picture of what I should exspect the fitment to be. Also a picture of the passenger side where I mount the clips.
Thanks Again

Both of these parts are off of my car and stored in a box someplace. I can take a few pics of the mounting holes and clips. Do you want me to try to list some measurements too?

I think I found where to drill the holes I am looking for a photo of the finished products installed ,so I can figure out how well the final fitment should look. Where it mounts to the center console is easy thats going to be my starting point. Its just how it mounts to the outside passenger side I am still trying to figure out for the heater cover.
Then how well the package tray mates up to the heater cover,
Thanks Again

I am in the same position, my 60 came without both too! If you can post pictures of the parts installed, I can use the help too!

Do these help??
Sorry Larry, this is all I can find right now. I keep these for reference for my own project but I see now I could use more interior detail.

The holes should be there for the package tray as all the cars were delivered with them. As far as the heater cover, I dont know where that is even located. I never had my car apart.

Larry,
I don't have any pictures, but I will try to describe the original attachment as well as I can. The package tray is attached at the center of the car with a single self-tapping screw which goes through an "L" bracket which is riveted to the package tray. This screw penetrates the dash pad and screws directly into the fiberglass dash structure. The package tray is also attached to the heater cover with 3 chrome plated oval head countersunk screws with chrome plated trim washers under the head. Then on the outboard side, the package tray has another "L" bracket riveted to it which screws to a second "L" bracket which is screwed to one of the kick panel attachment holes. The 2 "L" brackets meet at their respective L's and are secured together with a small self-tapping screw from underneath. This particular attachment is almost impossible to take a pic of since it is hidden between the package tray and the kick panel.
I decided to leave the package tray off my 59 project since it is really a useless appendage for daily driving. It is in the way of a tall passenger's knees, and does not really offer a very good storage space. I learned on my 60, that once you had painted the tray and rubbed it to a high shine, you dont want to put anything on it for fear of scratching the finish anyway! You pretty much can not delete the heater cover since all the stuff under the dash will show if you do. I believe that Rich left the tray off his car as well, so you might want to look at his pics and see if you like the look.
Regards, John McGraw

Larry,
One other issue to consider is the dash insert plate. when you put stuff on the tray, it can bang around and beat the dash insert to death. This is why almost every 59-62 dash insert needs replacing due to having hundreds of little dents in them! No package tray, no dents in the insert.

You mean like this one?
Also I originally thought that the double L bracket mounting on the right side was some sort of Bubba fix until I started looking at others to see what was supposed to be there. I couldn't believe that GM would really do anything that sloppy.

Thank You Again!
So for sure I should see holes for the right side "outboard" attachment and I will work from there.
I do plan on installing this.
I am really excited about the layout of my interiour.I cant wait to have that done.
