Default Steel Blue in California

Folks,

Sorry I don't have time for a long post but I snook out during lunch today and saw the Steel Blue car for sale in California. The guy who is selling it was not there to tell me about it.

Its at a Corvette repair shop. The add said it was a 1991 but the guy did tell me it was 1991 #50. It has 30k miles on it. As you will see from the pics its on a lift and there are cars and things all over the place so I was not able to see under the hood. Its a convertible with an Aerobody. Since it has the airbox on the side, it has no hood nostrils.

Since its in a shop, there is dust all over the car but no apparent paint chips or major blems. Could really see inside the car.

Mods include a borla exhaust and exhaust fans on each wheel well to get the heat out of the car. The flyer said they were asking $69K but I have no idea since the seller was not there. I'll post when I hear from him.

Pics at this link http://www.luigiloves.us/Callaway_in_California.pdf

Great pics Luigi. $69k!!!!!! Maybe if it had like 300 miles on it...... not 30,000 miles!

I bet that with a wash, a really good wash, it would be a beautiful car

I love the color combo - but the car is a 1990, not a 1991 as the flyer said - and the asking price I saw is $59k, you gotta start the price conversation somewhere, right

This Callaway AeroBody Convertible certainly is a unique and striking color combo!!!!
Happy shopping

Cool, thanks for posting up picts Luigi! Looks like the car took a hit there on the catalyst. It looked dented on the front edge.

I really like this car!! Maybe if I start negotiating with him now.....I'll have him talked down to a more reasonable price by the time I ready to buy......like a year from now!

I love that color as well. Like Chris said a good cleaning would go a looooong way on that car. I doubt it will sell at that price. It probably needs to fall more in line with the maroon 500 series car.

Very nice car!
But for that price i think a leaking oil line to one of the turbo's is out of the question.. But it's there...
The cooling fans look very nice i think but are they good enough to cool the enginebay? Heat goes up and they're very low...

Groeten Peter.

Thanks for pictures Luigi. That is a tempting car. Awesome color!!! Seems a little strong on $$$$$$$ but time will tell. Maybe Reuben has right idea, start negotiating now, to buy a year from now. It seems to be taking that long on some of the cars. I plan to go to California this winter if its still available will probably have to look at it. Seeya! Ike

Ike, There you go - That IS an AWESOME color and one you will NOT see elsewhere (I have NEVER seen this color in person on a Callaway and only know of two other steel blue's - a 91 aero coupe and a 90 coupe - I think there may be another though... )
It wears all "the right stuff" Correct Dymags, Aerobody, etc.
I am not crazy about the borla mufflers however, that can be changed w/ a set of new Megaphones

LOF Koolof windshield - it is glass, the same as a ZR1 uses up front - solar tinting was to reduce interior temps.

90Callaway has it on his Callaway Convertible - hope he chimes in on this

I have it on my '90. There is some kind of metal laminate in the glass. It interferes with gps and radar reception. There is a small bare square section at the bottom of the windshield in front of the driver to place the radar detector.
It is suppose to cost around $1100 to replace or maybe that was the original option price. No problems with delamination, yet.
