Default where does this bulb go?

I took out my clock the other day to get repaired and noticed this bulb hanging out behind the dash not conneced to anything. It's not one of the 2 clock bulbs and it doesn't belong to any of the gauges. Any ideas where it goes? Pics are from driver's side radio panel and through the clock opening.

Grey wire, it's one of the several instrument lamp lights, you'll have to search for the hole it goes into. There are at least 7 of these, not sure which one you have that's out of its place.

With the grey wire it's definately one of the instrument panel lights. The ones that actually go into the instrument panel all have metal backing on them. I think the one that has that rubber backing is the one that goes to the ignition switch. It should have a ferrel on the top of it that has an opening for a light. It's not easily seen from underneath unless you know it's there and feel up there with your hand.

These are probably the lights that insert in the back of the clock.

The gray wire bulb is an insturment illumination bulb. The Bulb with the rubber by it's location is more then likely the headlight door warning light, the other possiblility is the brake alarm light.

Ignition switch light is my guess too.

If the ignition switch is a replacement rather than an original for a '66 or '67, it probably doesn't have the provision for the light.

It is hard to tell form the pix, but the light socket appears to be plastic with two wires connected, if so it could be the headlamp tell tale lamp. When the headlights are on with the buckets closed is the LIGHTS warning illuminated?

I agree with the gray instrument light noted already. However, I'm thinking radio dial. If you removed the stock GM radio-that would be left hanging out. Location seems to fit, too.

All my dash gauges light up including the light and brake warning lamps. It's not the 2 clock bulbs. My radio dial doesn't light up, but the bulb in question desn't seem to reach the radio. Which side is the radio bulb on? My ignition switch doesn' light up. Looked under the dash and the switch doesn't seem to have a place for the bulb. Found my missing bulb location? What was supposed to light up on the ignition switch?

While we're at it I also discovered this more or less in the same location. Any body?

I still haven't decided yet on where to send the clock. There is a sticker on mine from Corvette Clocks by Roger, based in TN as to when it was serviced last. Called them and quoted me more than Clock Works who are in WI I think. I wasn't aware that mechanical clocks are self regulating and you can attempt to slow them down by turning the dial bakwards in twelve hour increments or vice versa. Tried it but mine is still fast.

The bulb may be from the instrument cluster anyway, even if all gages appear to be lighted. There's not a one-to-one relationship between bulbs and gages, as best as I remember, but the cluster instead has several bulbs to "flood" the instruments. You probably can't find the location without actually looking or feeling around on the cluster. Try looking at the lighted cluster at night and see if one particular area of the cluster "probably the side nearest the bulb" appears to be underlighted.

Where does the ignition light go? If you have the new Paragon catalog, go to page 114 and look at the ignition switch. The place where the light goes is that part right next to the switch. From left to right you have a nut, washer, and then the light housing. If it's there, you can stick your finger up over the top of the ignition switch and feel the hole. If it isn't, well now you know why it's hangin'.

Oh that new mystery light? Think that is the heater bulb. You are missing a couple parts on it. There is a green "lens" that goes over the bulb and then a metal part that the whole light slips in to. That metal part has a clip on it that holds the light assembly into the hole that is located above the radio and below the clock about where the heater controls are. Hate to use a catalog again to tell you what this thing looks like but it's the only place I could find it. Long Island Corvettes, Section 12, part 59A (lens) and 59B (socket holder).

What you're holding is half of the "torpedo" lamp that clips into the bottom of the clock housing and illuminates the heater control bezels; here's what it looks like with both pieces pressed together. The upturned portion of the retaining clip that holds it in the slot in the clock housing actually touches the outside diameter of the steel clock case to get its ground (through the clock ground). You'll probably find the "torpedo" tubular section (with the clip) either on top of the radio or between the side of the radio and the side wall of the console area next to the radio. If you can't find it, LICS has them (#12-59B), $24.00.
