Default K&N Swap into Vette

Hi Everyone,

Just swapped a K&N air filter in place of the stock filter along with an open air lid. K&N supplied these strips to intall along with the K&N (to secure it I believe), but I found that the K&N fit perfectly into the new air lid.

Has anyone actually installed these strips that are included with the filter? Am I OK without them?

Thanks

As long as you have a good seal, you'll be alright.

I used them.

I don't have a cut lid though, so I don't know how that would effect things.

K&N said to use the strips to ensure a tight fit, not necessarily a fitment issue, but more of a 'don't let any air leak issue'. It it tight as hell I can tell you that much!

I transferred my K&N from one vette with the strips installed to another without. As I recall it fits fine either way. Neither had the cut lid.

I used them, if the airbox is at all out of shape they improve the seal.
