Default Upgrade to Halogen on C2

My '67 BB has OEM headlights which could be brighter. I was orinally going to change out to Halogen or upgraded bulbs, but I was warned about potential problems with the electrical system due to their higher amp draw. Has anyone on the board had experience with this?

I have Wagner sealed-beam halogens in my '67 (except when it's judged), and they're a no-brainer; the original wiring handles them with no problem. When you go beyond that to the more exotic lamps that draw much higher current, that's when the problems begin.

I agree. Big improvement on my '66 and '59.

Are these the same lights that Eckler's sells?

Dunno - I've never bought anything from Eckler's - got mine at the local auto parts store - about five bucks apiece.

Check out what this company has to say about electrical systems. They have an interesting design approach to upgrading your electrical systems while also protecting it. http://www.madelectrical.com/index.shtml . Good luck.

I put Eckler's halogen's on my '67 and they work great. No problems of any kind.

I've had H-4 halogen (replaceable bulbs) lamps in my 57 for a few years. Still retain the original generator, etc. Everything has survived, including two cross-country trips (FL-CA-FL in 2002 and FL-MI-FL in 2003).
