Default 1963 Restro - Update....Paint finished...

Although I have been on travel the last week and few days, I have been in touch with my painter who has informed me the body paint (outside) has been completed and it looks remarkable. He is finishing the inside well behide the seats today (black) and the front engine area around the horns etc. He has removed the horns and items like that in the front and has painted them and the front engine (in front of raditor) and the engine bay. We reglassed the area where the hood mounts to the front as the glass job that was done before was very rough. Returned it to factory look. Tomorrow he will start triming out the car...glass, gaskets, weather stripping, stainless steel, chrome etc. Looks like a week from this week-end I will get the car back.

Like I said, been on travel, expect to return home tomorrow, and will be with him working on the car Thursday and Friday. WIll be putting in new Seat hardware, under the car to hold the seats in place, new seatbelt hardware and seat belts and them mounting the seats. We are getting close...I will take some photos and post this week end.

I hate being on travel during this time...but need to earn the money to keep the bills down....Cheers to all....Somewhere protecting the country....

Sounds fantastic. You must be getting pretty anxious to see it done. Pics so far clearly show the remarkable job you're doing. Congratulations, all the hard, tedious work up front paid off that the paint turned out as perfect as you planned. Nice to be rewarded for your patience.
Cheers

On my way home today, hope to stop by the shop and check out the progress. Now comes the tricky part. Putting back on the trim and chrome. This is the part you end up scratching the car if you are not careful. You are correct though, I am getting really excited. I lay in bed at night and image what the car is going to look like, I guess you can call it a vision, this vision has been with me since the day I picked it up. Almost every night, I think what the car will look like from a side view, front, rear, 3/4, the engine bay, the interior. I try to image the finet details.... This is what has kept me going at a slow but sure pace the past two years, but now its becoming a reality....I will post photos as soon as I can. And I have said it before and say it again, my wife has be along side of me all the way, giving up a lot just to see my "vision" become this reality.....OK so I am a softy....but credit is given where credit is due.....

Thanks all for you advice, support, and especially the time you have taken to follow my little project.....I will post soon, I have to drive 8 hours home through RAIN.....ech!..

Safe trip home and take care driving that long distance in lousy weather. It should be us thanking you for taking the time, like others during your restoration, to provide so many pictures and keep us posted as you progress on your project. Thank goodness the technology is here so we can enjoy it with you.
Most of us don't have the resources, mechanically or financially, to take on such big projects but for sure it's in all our hearts the desire to do one. This lets us be envolved through you. Thanks again for sharing your dream!
I've been so fortunate that a great friend let me share time in his restoration and I think I got almost as much pleasure and thrills out of it as he did. Seeing you guys make your dreams come true is priceless. I will probably never experience this again, at least not to the same extent.
Nice credit to your wife. Truthfully, where would most of us be without our better half ? Great that she supports you so much! Take care, safe driving. Cheers again on a fantastic job by you and your friend

It's always so much fun to see the parts going back on. Very satisfying. The one item that stresses me the most is putting the bumpers back on. It's just way too easy to scratch the paint and hard to watch both ends at the same time. I wrap the bumpers in shop towels and tape just to make sure any contact is a soft one. Can't waite to see pictures.
