Default Storing Back window

When I put my back window in the rear storage compartment it rattles drive me insane. I plan to pack the shelf with some foam this weekend but wonder if I am doing something wrong or if there is a better way.

Default Back window rattle

I noticed you hadn't gotten a response yet, so I thought I would. I have a storage pouch for my window that's cushioned a bit, but I haven't actually used it. To be honest, I have just left the window and tops in the garage when I'm out for an "open" cruise. I have a car cover in the back if it rains. The window pouch came with the car, but I got matching T-top pouches from Mid-America. I imagine they'll have the cushioned window pouch, too. I'm not near my catalog at the moment, but go to their site and search for T-top storage or similar and you'll likely find it. I think that may help you.

There are foam anti rattle cushions that are supposed to keep the rear tray quiet. I have them on mine but they don't work very well.

I would also be interested in any solutions out there.

I just wrap my window in a lightweight towel. I do have a question along this line: My rear window storage shelf will not stay closed. Is there a way to adjust the latch? Thanks.

I put down a felt on the tray and a front foam pad along the front edge,it stoped all rattles. Make sure your window is fitting under the back metal holder(see pic top middle) and that the 2 metal window frame prongs are fitting in the front 2 molded areas.

I assume you custom cut the felt?

I just made templets from cut up strips of news papers. I glued down the felt with 3m spray glue 77 and used a sharp razor blade to cut out the holes. Took all of about 1 hour. The front 1 1/2x 1/2 foam gasket was a Home Depot find.

I'm with waterboy, looks good enough to market. Hmmm--I located some thin rubber backed felt in a color close to the saddle interior in my car and I will use your concept--Home Depot here I come. I guess I better finish reading the paper so that I can free it up for a more important job! Another question as I have yet to completely master the use of the forum. How do you post pictures in your threads?

I use an account at Photo Bucket http://photobucket.com/ and then just copy and paste the entire "IMG" line into the message I am writing. Photo Bucket has 3 lines attached to each photo a URL, TAG and IMG line.
