My Corvette(s):
Default 71 LT1 Tachometer

All,

Can anyone tell me what the redline should be on the tach for a 71 LT-1? I'm considering purchasing a car and the redline is 6300. Does this seem correct?

Thanks,
Mark

everything that i have read, been told, and seen has listed the '71 lt-1 tach at a 6500 rpm redline. to my knowledge it is one of the verifications that the car is a lt-1...providing that the tach is original. seems that through new parts, and restamping- one could forge a lt-1 pretty easily. usa today had an article yesterday about late 60's early 70's car forgeries. good luck.

Thanks - I took a closer look and can actually see the yellow from 6300 to 6500 and the red from 6500 to 7000.

All LT-1s had 6500 rpm redline except 72 with A/C.
