Default How2 Clean Aluminum Valve Covers

Anybody have something that cleans soap spots from Aluminum Valve Covers? I was washing the inside of my hood (90 Coupe) at the car wash and got soap overspray on the valve covers. Now they have soap spots all over them. By the way they're after-market billet covers. Appreciate your help.

Anybody. I've started to add the aluminum under my hood as well and am curious what people are doing to keep it clean.

4/0 steel wool or finer, use a very soft stroke, then polish with a metal polish such as Brasso.
