My Corvette(s):
1985 red corvette
Default code 33

I'm getting a code 33. If my burn off module was bad ( I have an 85) would that make me have a low rpm stumble and reduced gas mileage? I understood it was just to heat up the wires on shutdown to burn off any accumulations. I have checked all connections and they look fine..I just want to cover all bases before springing for new MAF or burn off module...
Thanks for any feedback

I also have a code 33 right now, If I remeber correctly, the code 33 could also be a missfire problem. what is your car doing? I am curious because I am have'n many problems myslef.

I replaced the relay that controls the burn off because I was getting the same code. After replacing the relay, it went away. However, the car never ran different with or without the code. You may need to change your cap/rotor, wires and plugs.

Good Luck.

It would reduce gas mileage, a stumble is possible.

Unfortunately for 85, fixing the burnoff is not as cheap as it is for the rest of us.

Default code 33

I'm also getting a code 33 on my 87.
About 6 months ago, I replaced the MAFS with the Mid-America micro-tech unit
along with the sensor. Never had a problem until now.
After several resets, its still happening.
My mechanic thiks the unit might be bad and suggested returning it, which I am in the process of doing.
Meantime, the car runs great.........just the light on..
Also, there are no descernable leaks and the wires and plugs are fine.
I'll keep you posted when I get to try the new unit and sensor.

Default code 33 fix

Well the code went away after I changed the plugs and put in new power and burnoff relays from Mid-America.
