Default Steering Shock

My 64 has manual steering. I experience significant feedback to the steering wheel on occassion when hitting bumps or pot holes. I've saw steering shocks on eBay in the past. Can anyone give me some info on them. Is this an after market item ? Could it help with my problem ?

My gear box is new and adjusted properly. the entire front end suspension has been rebuilt and is tight. I had the wheels balanced last week also.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Check the 64 AIM, on Section 9, Sheet 3.00, the steering's shock absorber assemby (p/n 3178100) is listed. They were used on all engines with a 5 quart oil pan. I think that there might have been an interference problem with the engines with 6 quart capacity oil pan.

What are you asking for it ?

Did you have it installed on your car at some point ? I'm curious to know the benefits (if any) and also any downside to having one installed.

If TL does not want it, I would be interested if you have the frame mount for it as well.

Thanks
Tom

Was that damper used on a C2 (1967) with power steering?

No. The damper and the p/s cylinder pretty much mount in the same location. If you had one you didn't have the other.
