Default If you're running a 502...

...with manual transmission, where did you take off the oil pressure line on the engine to run to the gauge?

Ran a hard line from a reducer and compression fitting placed in the hole just above the oil filter.

Rich I was hoping you would answer.

As you know, this clutch rod bracket gets in the way of the oil pressure line.

67, will a reducer with a 90* fitting fit behind the bracket? If so, your oil pressure line could then go straight up from the fitting behind the bracket. Or, you could drill a hole through the bracket and have the oil pressure line run through it.

Subfixer,

There's no room behind the bracket. We considered drilling a hole but based on how everything else has worked so far, I'd be willing to bet that I'd be unable to get a wrench on the fittings because they'd end up sitting right in the hole.

Rich,

Did you use a different plate from this one by Scoggins-Dickey?

67, here's another thought... drill a hole in the adaptor large enough to pass a short piece of pipe into the hole above the oil filter, then put your fittings on the pipe. I've asked another member on the other forum how he did his. He's got a Gen IV 454 (I think) in his otherwise stock 66 vert. I'll post your question on the other forum and let you know what I find out.

I'm liking this already.

Note to readers. There are two oil cooler take-off plugs ahead of the filter on the underside of the 502 block, just outside the oilpan. I wonder if anyone has used these........there's nothing in the way.

67, here's what I got so far...
Running a 454 with a similar set up and, if I recall correctly, I used the oil pressure port off the top of the back of the block (similar to the small block location)...

I looked at the pics of the block on your website, looks like there is a location coming off the left lifter gallery at the back of your block, just left of center behind the intake.

I too wondered about that location...

(see plug marked with red paint - upper right)
...but haven't been able to verify for certain what its intended function is.

If you look at this picture, you can see just above the flywheel, the raised casting that indicates that there is a feed from the left lifter gallery to the red plug you indicated in your pic above.

I should have remembered that you were using this adapter. Since we built a hydraulic clutch setup we didn't run into that problem. But, as Subfixer mentioned, you can also use the hole on the back of the block which is where many engines get their oil pressure feed.

Rich
