C6 Delivery Costs
I ordered my C6 from a dealer in another State and am having it delivered to my local dealer here in TX. I talked with them and they want to charge me $500 for the delivery. This covers their "certified acceptance", detailing, fueling, registration sticker, temp plate, and basic prep of the car after it comes off the truck.
Anyone else having their C6 delivered to a different dealer? If so, what kind of delivery fees are you expecting?

How can a dealer accept delivery on a car sold by another dealer? Why would they want to?

Why NOT have it delivered to you?
If you are delivering it to a nearby dealer, I guess the $500 is insurance money to protect you if there are any transport issues...?!
Bill.

Greenie, why would I drive to Georgia to pick up my Vette from the dealer if GM will ship it to ANY dealer in the US for FREE!?? It's called courtesy delivery and ANY Vette off the line at BG can be shipped to any dealer at no cost to you. It doesn't have to be the dealer where you ordered it from. What I am trying to find out, is if different dealers charge different amounts for taking delivery of a car.
If dealer "A" charges $500 and Dealer "B" charges say $400, I'm going to have my car shipped there.

Museum?
Why not opt for museum delivery. It's a $400+ cost, but at least you would get something for your money....

Wow, I had no idea that this was available. Ill wait to see how others respond to your question concerning dealers charges for "handling"! Thanks for the response!

Buster1: Yes, I've heard of shipping a new Vette to a dealer, other than where you buy it....it's called drop shipped. I've heard of $200 fees because they basically fuel up the car, fill out a few forms, and wash the car.

My Corvette(s): In a couple months after I graduate!!
|
My brother is in charge of ordering for a dealership chain in SoCal, and my mom (who lives in NE PA) wanted to buy and avalanche. So my brother ordered it and she bought it through his dealership, faxing the paperwork and what not. Then he had it delivered from the factory to a dealership near my mom who made a couple hundred bucks on the delivery, even though they would have much prefered to sell it themselves.

Museum is not an option for me, besides, I don't want to put 1000+ miles on it day one.
I also talked with a few other dealers here in San Antonio. Waiting for words from a couple, but one quoted me $285-$300 for the delivery. Yes it includes temp license plate, cleaning, tank of gas, and prep. That is much better than the $500 originally quoted by my first dealer.

I have heard $250 as a courtesy fee. As you've found, it varies. That is atop the standardized delivery fee which is mandatory or ALL Vettes, including those delivered at the museum.
More plainly, the museum delivery charge does nt eliminate the shipping fee.

That just seems so wrong...

$250-300 sounds reasonable, given the prep and paper work that the receiving dealer must do. Seems unreasonable to expect the receiving dealer, who otherwise makes zilch on the car, to do that work for free.
