Default '77 L-82 Name on Steering Wheel?

My 1977 L-82, red, T-top, 4-spd vette has a name professionally etched onto the spoke of the steering wheel. It is: Zora Arkus-Duntov. I know he worked for the company back then, but is there any particular significance to this name on the wheel?

rlove77,

Welcome to the forum. We like seeing new and enthusiastic members.

To echo what IH2Lose has said about Zora, indeed Zora is considered to be the god-father of the Corvette, and his name evokes reverence in sports car circles.

He was so highly thought of that his ashes rest in the National Corvette Museum.

Here is his biography from right here in CAC.

The steering wheel you have is a relatively common aftermarket accessory, nothing to do with GM. They appear on eBay quite often.

Sorry.
