Default need info on cold air induction

Can anybody give me information on the cold air induction system on my 75 L48? I didn't even know I had it until I was in a car show and another C3 owner told me about it and showed me the wire on the hood leading to the induction point. He said that there is a switch under the dash that is activated when you push the accelerator all the way to the floor. He said this opens a butterfly in the hood that lets cold air into the air cleaner from the vent by the windshield. All I can find is the wire. Is there any way to check and see if this thing is working?

Thanks,
Andy

I'm not sure that '75s still had that system, but look for the switch under the gas pedal arm that gets actuated at WOT. With the ignition on, the switch will feed 12V to a solenoid in the hood which opens the door.

Take a look here on The '73 Spot for info on the cowl intake system. The 73 and the 75 systems are the same.
