Default Saw a Recent Picture of the XM Radio Antenna on a Coupe

I recently saw a picture of the XM radio antenna on a magnetic red C6 coupe. It was black, with the XM logo, roughly round in shape, about 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter, sticking up about 1 and 1/2 inches, right in front of the hatch glass. If that is in fact, the factory installed XM antenna for the C6, then I'm going to call my dealer and cancel the XM option. It really looked like an after-thought...., really screws up the otherwise beautiful lines of the body.... As badly as I want XM radio, I don't want it bad enough to do that to my new baby.....

The pictures of the XM antenna I saw several months ago were different. That antenna was roughly cylindrical in shape, running about 2 - 3 inches in the direction of the long axis of the car, and stuck up about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch, maybe about the size of your first finger... While not very attractive, it was much less obvious than the one I saw recently.

I just can't believe that Dave Hill and group couldn't find a more unobtrusive spot to place the antenna....... Damn shame........

Yeah, and the one for the Vert sits smack-dab in the middle of the trunk lid. It's uglier than the front license plate bracket IMHO.

HI there,
The way that XM works require that there be an outside pod antenna, for correct reception and reading of the signal.
There are alot of vehicles out there with worse.

Would this be the same antenna for the GPS and ON-Star system? They also need `em!

The other antenna is at the top of the windshield, behind the glass. Its #1 in the diagram.
#2 is the XM antenna.

Default XM Antenna

If you want XM radio do what I did. I have a Delphi Roady unit which has a very small antenna (about the size of a silver dollar but thicker). I ran the wire from the center console where the receiver is, under the carpets, etc and because its magnetic it stuck to the hinges on my roadster where the top goes down into. It is out of sight and works fine. Never any reception problems.
