replacement for broken latch on keyfob?
Well the second keyfob on my 96 broke this weekend, do any of you know if we can buy replacement parts rather then the whole remote? The remotes work well but the backs no longer stay on...thanks for your help!

Had the same problem CWB, cured it by using rubber cement. Coat both sides, wait a bit & then press together & hold with a rubber band. Next day remove the band & you shud be in business, The nice part is you can pull it apart without breaking anything, change battery, & just regoop it. Mine has been that way since 98 & no problems.

I have one that barely hangs together for my '96 and just ordered a second one from Chevrolet ($160), which is on backorder while they look for one. Like yours, my back comes off, but stays together when I press them back together. The button on the front, however, is broken and I don't know how much longer I can change from the passive keyless entry to the push the fob and lock mode. I have a convertible and that keyfob is different from the coup in that it does not have a button for the rear hatch.

Same problem. I put a dot of super glue on it which I plan to break the bond when it is time to put a new battery in. Working for 1.5 years so far!

Both mine have been broken since '96, and it's a '95!.
You need only one small dab of black silicone sealant right at the point where the latch is broken. The neoprene seal will not let it close as tightly together as you may want so a strong rubber band should hold it together until the silicone cures. The other end of the remote is hinged so no need for silicone anywhere else. Been fine ever since. No point in buying new one.

No, I ordered mine from Elco Chevrolet in Ballwin, MO. They told me this week that Chevrolet is out of them and has gone back to the manufacturer to get more. I have no idea how long this will take.

I saw two on ebay just the other night -

Go to the grocery store, buy a bunch of broccoli, eat or toss it, but before you do, put the strong, fat rubber band from the bunch on your remote key fob. You might shop around and get a color that matches your ride.
