Default New here just thought I would post

My wife just bought a 1973 Corvette and WE are going to bring it back.We at first thought the car was big bliock car and found out after that it wasn't. I was disappointed but my wife wasn't so its all good. When we finally put the car on the hoist we were pleasantly supprised to find out that some previous owner had put in 4 stainless calipers. 4 stainless flex hoses and the brakes were new. New stainless brake lines had been installed. Then we noticed that new front coil springs were in and a new rear leaf spring was in and also ne ball joints , ti-rod ends. new swaybar links and new shocks . So this all made me feel alot better. There are 2 patches that need to be welded into the frame as the rest is good. The interior is a not so good but the dash is good. The one place rotted out I didn't like was at the top of the windshield so as the interior is not so good we will pull it all out and fix that. Someone had stolen the gauge cluster and luckily a friend of mine had one from his 73 that was wrote-off 20 years ago so he let us have it. We Have some work ahead of us but we have a good base to start off of and the body is good. We will be needing a lot of interior parts and parts in general along with some rims ralley or aluminum. So thats our story this far and it will continue

Welcome to CAC. It is great to hear that this project is something your wife and you can share. My wife could care less about the mechanical end of the vette and gives me a hard time when the car is down for repair or improvement. She justs wants to put the top down and ride. I think you will find this site very helpful with your project. When I get stuck with something I usually post here and in a short time I have my answer. Good luck and enjoy.

Andy

Default wives...

Mine not only gives me a hard time when I try to work on it, even just to change the oil, she hates to even ride in it. Too much floor heat, too harsh, no (working) a/c, too funky, too many rattles, too loud, too ...
But I love it!

Clarence,
Good luck with your project and welcome! '73's are the best of both body style worlds, chrome & rubber.

You should have seen my wife stripping some parts out of a 74 that was totaled to the point that there was only a couple of trim pieces left. It was a dream come true. She doesn't want to just own a Vette she wants a part in the restoration. Now she sees what I see in old cars , I have a 1980 Z28 that is near completion .
