Block number on 1968 427 Question.

Anyone know where to find block number on 1968 Corvette 427/390 and is it easy to see without taking parts off?

Block Casting Numbers are located on the left rear and to the left of the distributor.
Block Casting Date Codes are located on the right rear and to the right of the distributor.

Hi


68 BB block number should be 3916321 for early cars and 3935439 for later 68 Vettes.
The same block was used for the 390 up to the 435 and L88 engines.

The date code is a Letter for the month , than 2 numbers for the day ( 01 to 31 ) and last digit should be 7 for 1967.

Both the date code and the block number are casted with the block.

I am still looking for a early 321 block dated I or H for my 68 build date of Oct, 05 , 67.

Both the 321 and 439 blocks have the casting date down low on the passenger side, just forward of the starter, near the freeze plug, not on the bellhousing flange.
