66 vette speedometer

I'm having trouble with speedometer on recently purchased 66' convertible big block with muncie trans. Initially was bouncing around, now nothing. I checked the gear it appears alright( no teeth missing). Any ideas as how I should proceed to find out the cause and solution?

Did you check the top end to make sure that the cable is turning ? The ends at the top break off easily. If the cable is ok I would say you will have to remove the speedometer for rebuilding. Some places sell kits for you to do it yourself or you can send it out
