1996 LT4, Z51 CE Coupe -- (sold to Hrtbeat1)
Default Trailer

Anyone tow a trailer behind their C4? I have a '96 LT4 6-speed (I just bought it back!) and would like to tow a single bike (a Harley FXDWGI). I don't have any doubt that the car can pull the bike, but I am a bit concerned about highway driving because it runs at such a low RPM. Anyone have any experience with this?

I also want a trailer hitch that is removable, at least to the point where you can't see it from the back of the car when I am not trailering.

Any help would be much appreciated... thanks!

I haven't done it YET. But, I'm all set up with a hitch and reciever.

As far as I know there is NO hitch that will be completely invisable when not in use, but I think this is as close as you can get.

My plan is to tow a trailer carrying wheels, tires, tools, jacks, and spare parts to The Pony Express run in late June. http://www.openroadracing.com/

So far I've only practiced four wheeling with a trailer in my yard though

This is what the hitch looks like.

Thanks for the info... i saw an ad in one of the corvette mags about a hitch that you can't see when not in use... they say something like 5 minutes of time takes the visible part of the hitch off the car. I was hoping someone had tried one like that.

Moonunit: thanks for the pics. it doesn't look bad on your car at all... and that trailer is huge compared to the one that i want to get

sothpaw: nope, no 'vert for me... but I got my LT4 back, and I have a Harley now... the bike gives me my fill of open air, and i can use the extra space of the coupe for luggage

Ya, well I wish I couls afford a fancier trailer, but I think I'm gonna have to use what's available. I'm VETTEPOOR right now and I still got as grand left to go before I'm ready
