Installing Wet Okole Seat Covers

Greetings. Has anyone here purchased Wet Okole seat covers for their C4, and if so how did you get the belts and latches tread under the seats and latched?

I just tried to install my new set of Wet Okole's today and couldn't get the belts and latches to thread underneath the seats. I had the seats raised as high as they would go. There’s got to be an easier way to do this.

The seat cushions pop out. There is some kind of a wire latching device on the bottom of the cushion underneath. If someone else doesn't chime in here I'll try to take a pic tomorrow and post it for ya. Sorry I know this is a kind of weak description, but it's all I can remember right now. You might try a search, there was an extensive description on the forum somewhere in the last few months. I know Ken posted good info in it.

This is the front (toward gas pedal) part of the seat. A screwdriver or ? stuck in there and pry down will release the clip, and the seat bottom will come up in the front and you can do what you want. If you have more problems post a "page" to Ken. I know he's got the info. It ain't the easiest job to re-clip this bracket, but I have faith in you, you can do it

You’re Awesome! That’s picture perfect. I was incorrectly thinking that the wire you were talking about was the one I felt while trying to tread the belts and clips under the seat. I wasn’t even close. With your keen eye, and great photography, I can’t help but succeed. Thanks bigtime!

When I installed the Wet Okoles, I was surprised at the wire clip that held the seat on.
I was expecting something more complicated.

Just got mine a week and half ago and installed them by popping the seat out.

Couple things that steamed me...

They gave me covers for the powerbuttons in seat and mine doesn't have that even though I ordered them without...whatever..

And the straps they use are junk..They are made from really cheap plastic and cheap straping so DON'T reef on them, they work but don't abuse em.

And the "embroidering" on the headrest...is an Iron on sticker or silkscreening I was lead to believe they were sewn into the headrest...not impressed there either.

The cover is excellent quality HOWEVER if I EVER did this again I would not have gone this route and just recovered the seat with new vinyl or leather custom done from local shops to my CUSTOM preference. They would be permanent and not just a "cover". IMHO these are WAY to much money for what you are actually getting.

They're nice but not 500$ nice. (CND)

I too thought that the logos were going to be embroidered. If I new it was going to be screen printed, I wouldn’t have ordered it. It look cheesy.

Here are pictures of the steps I took to install the seat covers.

Before:

I removed the seat cushion and slipped on the seat's back cover. I made sure that the velcro on the bottom of the cover connected together tightly.

Then I slipped the seats bottom cushion into the bottom seat cover. Note: IMHO the bottom seat covers are cut too small for the cushion. As you can see in this photo the side bolsters barely fit.

Then I connected all the straps and wound the excess straps around it self so that it won't get caught up in the power seat track.

Then I inserted the cushion back into the seat frame making sure that the new seat cover gets pressed between the frame and the seat. It doesn't look to bad when installed, but not as nice as the seats back cover.

Here's the cheezie silkscreened logo. I should have gotten it done in red.

Thanks, and the help to me is there will be NO Wet Okole's although, I'd figured that out alredy from the previous posts. I've seen earlier ones and liked them, but I think their add for "embroidered" is, well, a misrepresentation

What do you guys do to your seats?

I’ve got 120K+ on mine and they are still in great shape! I have a fat @$$ and only wear jeans so I do not think that I have been overly careful with them.

I hate to admit it, butt.... I sit on them.

Unfortunately, the first owner of the car wasn't as careful as you were with your seats. Since my new toy depleted my mad money, and I wanted to stay married, I thought I did the right thing.

It was ether $800 to replace the leather or cover the old leather with $260 seat covers.

I don't have anything to compare them too, but the Wet Okole covers are put together well and it does make the seat more comfortable. Even though I’m disappointed with the logo not being embroidered, I bet the bottom seat cover will stretch over time and it will look much better.
