Default Mirror questions

I just purchased a new rearview mirror for my 86 coupe. This one has the map lights which my car does not have. I would like to hook these up. Can anyone help me out with a wiring diagram? The mirror has 2 plugs on it one is a 3 wire connector and one is a 2 wire connector. I think it was off of a 88 or 89 car. Thanks in advance Charlie

Here's the wiring diagram for an '89. The Map light on the Mirror is the Upper Left Box. Hope this helps out a little....

Your windshield header should also contain the wiring leads for both the mirror as well as the visors (for the vanity lights), even if it wasn't originaly equipped with a lighted mirror. Although, I can't imagine one coming from the factory without a map-lighted mirror.

I did this same thing on my 86' coupe. The wires are already there. They are behind the trim piece that goes across the inside windshield header. Only one of the wires plugs in. Not sure what the other wire is for, but it works perfectly. Mine only will light if the ignition switch is on. It also has a small light that shines down on the console when the interior lights are on. I think these came standard on the convertables in mid 86 production. It's an easy upgrade.
