It came originally with 7.75-15's; the corresponding current radial equivalent is 205/75-15. C2's have very limited tolerance for wider tires, rims, or offset changes before tires can break fiberglass, especially in situations like entering a driveway - the choices for change are pretty limited.

jeffitz,
Welcome to .
Some of us have managed to squeeze a bit extra rubber under there, in spite of what JohnZ says.

Yeah, but it cost you more than ten bucks to accommodate that rubber

I'm with JohnZ. I ran Goodyear 195x75r15 Michelin and Goodyear tires for 14 years. Great bite in snow, in rain to 85mph, and on dry pavement - I'd rather spin tires than snap ujoints and frag clutches.
Both vendors quit making that size, and the Kelly-Springfield 195x75 is the same width at the bulge but narrower tread and 10% smaller diameter (seen at the speedometer). I will mount 205x75r15 tires - hopefully S rated whitewalls by the end of summer, so I can remove the 10% overdrive gears from my speedo cable.
I am really wary of damage to the fiberglass with the wheels turned to enter driveways. The paving people think everyone should be driving a truck. the approach angle of some of the mall/plaza driveways is steeper than the curbs in my neighborhood. I have to hit the driveways one front wheel at a time to keep the bottom of my air dam and license plate off the pavement.

Most guys seem to be able to install 215/70's.... as long as they use stock offset 5.5" or 6" wheels. If you want to be sure you won't have any interference, I agree, 205/75's is the way to go.

215/70R15s on my 65 with repro KOs - Goldlines on Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks - very pleased with them as far as performance goes, but other favorites exist too. I think Goldlines look best against darker car colors, but that doesn't mean they look bad with white or lighter colors.
