I did this on my '62. Looks great. But won't fool any judges. You realize that the reverse lockout is fake. Looks real, but won't prevent you from shifting into reverse. This isn't a problem with Hurst shifters. When you buy the boot, buy a stock one for C1s, not one for a Hurst. The shaft usually doesn't come with a knob, so don't forget to order that also when you buy the shaft.
