Default Clocks - best option for repair?

I'm tired of having a non-functioning clock in my car so I've been trying to figure the best option. (I know it's not the biggest problem on the car but it sure irritates me!)

I've been reading about quartz conversions. Can anyone explain what this means and involves? Is it worth doing or should I stay with the non-quartz version, whatever that is?

All advice gratefully received!

I did the quartz conversion ( I think I got it from Eckler's). As I recall, once you have the clock out, you remove the hands, remove the case from the face, and remove the internals from the case. Install new in reverse order. The swap took me about 15 min once I got the clock out.

ArkShark,

That is a great link! Now all I need to do is get the clock out of the car and I can get to work.

Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions too. I'll let you know how I get on.

had the same thing on my 66 impala. In my glovebox there were receipts of him having the clock fixed under warranty. On the back of the clock it has my great grandfathers last name written in marker. Apparently this was a problem even back then!
