Default Temperature Gauge not working

Before I took the heads off my temp gauge worked OK. Since I've put everything back together it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

BTW ... I removed the sensor from the right hand head (even Nos side) and when I put it back I wrapped the threads in PTFE tape. Now I'm wondering if it earths through the head?

AND ... why is there a temp sensor in each head, and do they both need to be connected?

73, remove the tape from the sender and that SHOULD take car of the problem. the tape insulates the switch from the motor ,which needs to complete the ground.
my 74 has the wiring on the left head, comming off the alternator harness.i can't explain why you have two .

best to you

Default my opinion here...

the heads can go on either side...so they have a port on every head....and plug the side not used....my temp sensor is on the drivers side as well.

Well I found a spare wire on the drivers side that fitted neatly on the temp sensor. When I start her up this weekend I'll find out if the thing is working.

Thanks for the tips guys.
