How do you drive your Vette around the town?

Don’t really spin the tires as much as I take the twists and turns at well over the posted limits :Steer
It seems when i do run her hard, i end up under the hood or under the car:( .....maybe just me, but if i just treat her right, she returns the favor...
But man when the time is right....Feels so good! :D

With the low gears 1-2 and the torque I like to slide it a bit on take-off once in awhile...
I used to give it some abuse now and again.

The speedometer pegs at 85MPH. It was mandated by law for a while. People would work out speed by converting from the tachometer.

Right on the money, pic was taken in fourth gear. No idea of speed and before anybody comments I am well aware it was not the brightest thing I have ever done but surprisingly my Vette is rock steady even flat out. The previous 80 4spd that I had wandered all over the road and was a real handfull at speed.

around town--pretty easy.....on the highway, I like to open her up, if not too much traffic around.

My number one priority is to keep idiots from dinging my beautiful car. When I have the space, I open her up. I love that on-ramp feeling when I pass folks already on the freeway, before I even have to merge. Wahooo!
Everyone says they are a good driver. In my case it's correct. Ha ha ha.

None of the above. Around town I am an Old Maid.:z Ah but on the Hi-Way it is a different story. From our house to the track is a 9 mile trip, 1 mile out of the residential area, 3 miles of limited access road and 5 miles of Interstate quality road with out a single exit and 2 nice long sweeping turns. I exceed 100MPH on the way to work every day. I love watching the Euro-Trash cars cringe with fear when Thunder Road blast by them.:Twist

Hi To All,
#2. Spinning the tires -only- in controlled (ie empty parking lots) when I've had a bad day. The noise and handling gets the brain back to reality. On the interstates- lets go, but avoid smokey. In the city- nice and easy.

I love the sound of full throttle, I hammer it every chance I get, even it if is only for half a block. Country roads, I love the instant acceleration when passing other cars. Hard on gas, but that's the price of fun.

I push it hard. Your categories didn't include that without spinning the tires. Traction control stays on. At $1,500 a set, it's not cool to burn the tires up. But a day without triple digits in the headup is a day wasted. It's just so easy to do, and fun.

One speed, full throttle. If I don't hit 100 sometime during the day, something must be wrong.
always been pretty easy on the OLD girl...and we just bought the 12,000 mile 93 last fall,so i havent had the chance to try er out yet. what should i expect for top end with a stock 350??

Same here. I let her rip every chance I get. I love the sound of that V8 at high RPM. And I love blowing away people in their SUV's, and so called "Sport compact cars".

I just like to take it nice and easy. It makes people more envious to see me cruising along with the top down in my turquois '60. If I went too fast they would never know how beautiful she is.

You've got the idea Stallion. There is nothing better then a nice sunny day and a winding road so that I can take it out and enjoy a nice cruise. I hope that spring comes soon 'cause I'm itching to get her back on the road. I would post pictures of the car (I am only the secon owner and it is all original except some of the paint and the engine has been rebuilt) but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Well I drove my Vette to an all time low yesterday. The boys from the shop call and told me that we needed 4 bags of cement. I was short on time and did not want to go 17 Km to get the truck and double back so I put an old blanket in the back and carefully placed 4 100# bags of cement under Thunders rear hatch.:eek
I tried to be good but it was impossible. I just had to see what the 383 thought about having 400# on top of the rear axel. Well the beast did not care a bit. She still chirped the tires on the 2-3 shift. I pushed her up to 185Km/hr just to have bragging rights…I have the fastest cement truck in Spain.:_rock

Once or twice a week, I go to a chicken place out on I-95 for pick-up lunch. They have fried chicken livers. Nectar to a southerner.
I can hit 160 up the tall bridge over the harbor enterance with no fear of cops. Then on the back of the loop, 170 is sometimes possible on I-95.
Makes a great break from deskbound work.

It is balls to the wall 24-7. If the motor breaks then i will have to fix it. There is nothing like slamming 3rd gear and leave a euro in the dust. I burn them on just about every cornor. Hell the end of my street where you turn off to the main road, there is enough rubber there from me to make a set of firestone firehawlks.

89 IROC conv - daily driver and collectible - drive it normal
VETTE - well, the answer should be obvious

I still baby her (sorta). . .but every now & then I'll get on it just to see what she can do. If I took the bait every time I was challenged, I would have needed new tires already. But give us the North Georgia mountains . . . she likes to take the twists and turns hard and fast. . . :D

Hmm... the results are quite interesting! Seems the vast majority of us truly respect the car, and although we know Corvette is quite capable, I would venture to say we also enjoy just cruising on a regular basis.

I drive mine like I drive any car. If there's an opportunity for fun, take it! Otherwise just keep up with traffic and go along for the ride. Keeping in mind that tires cost big bucks, the horses only get let out of the corral when they are feeling frisky.:)

Yep. I like cursing in mine. Tires and broken parts are way to expensive. The best cruse so far was with the Z-06 over Christmas. Had a ricer with his girlfriend onboard playing around and doing all he could to interrupt my crusing time. Stopped at a stop light and he yelled over to me "I thought Z-06s are suppose to be fast". i said "yep...but not this one". His face turned red and he started making lots of noise with his fart can. When he peeled out from the light it sounded like someone locking the brakes on a bicycle;LOL. At the next light I let him hear what a real peel out is suppose to sound like. His eyes where as big as a dinner plate and his girlfriend was trying to hide her face. Short of the story is that he stopped showing off for his girlfirend. Other than the occasional throughly provoked spanking someone needs, I just mind my own business during cruse time:cool.

I'm pretty chicken around town. On the freeway or open back roads I go about 8/10ths with an occasional WOT. I like the twisties better than the long straights; not into top speed (plus it scares me) especially on public roads. Too many things can go wrong and I hate to see a flashing red light in my rear view.
Love to get out of traffic, specially around ramps, love to press it to the metal and just leave "cars" behind. Always driving on the "left" lane...:Steer

I have only driven it for a month but find that I pick my spots. I found my limits but not the car's limits on the twisties. Nice safety factor. Plenty of fun to be had without beatin' on it.

With my open side pipes I can idle up to anyone and they either close their window or drool, smile and gimme a thumbs up. With all the attention, I still feel the need to flog her regularly. She makes so much power, and puts it to the ground so well I just can't help myself.
My favorite is not launching from a light or stop sign, rather rolling up to a sucker at about 35 mph and dropping her into first gear with a simultaneous mashing of the gas. The result of these two items together propels the car forward violently. I am instantly catapulted to 60+ mph and the poor sucker I dropped on is left wondering where I went, and why thier ears are ringing!!!!
I do the same thing on the highway at about 70... I plop her into 2nd and am instantly doing 100. The best is when the sucker is on their cell phone :D !
