Default Hard Wire for Valentine V-1

Hey guys/gals,

I tried this tpoic here before and hope by now one of you smart folks have figured this out.

The accessory plug found behind the toe-kick panel on the C5 was ELIMINATED in 2004. I even checked with the plant and this plug is definitely NOT installed in 04's.

This means for those of us who hard wired our Valentine 1's there, we now have to find a new power source.

SO - - I seek a place to pick up switched power and a ground wire nearby so I can hard-wire the V-1. Someone suggested the mirror wiring, but I can't get at it with my big fat fingers.

Wonder if I could somehow get at the wires in the sun visors ? Anybody tried this for a detector ?

Anybody figure out how to hard-wire a V1 yet ?

Thanks,

Mort

PS - My local chevy Dealer offerred to install an accessory plug for only $250.00. ! ! There's got to be a better way than giving them $250.00

Check that previous thread again for my solution. In short, my car stereo guy ran the wire along the top of the windshield, down the driver's side A-pillar, and under the dash, connecting it there. Now, this was a Passport 8500 with the optional wiring harness. I'm not sure if it would work the same with the Valentine 1, but I know that it is possible to do some kind of wiring into the underside of the driver's side of the dash...

I've got a 2000, but I believe even without the accessory plug you should still be able to pull switched power from the fuse box area under the kick panel. Use a tester or get a schematic to assure you're pulling switched power (rather than always on, which is what you'll get at the mirror or visors).

I think there is another source in the center console, good luck, Jim.
