The paint looks wet.
Much better than I was expecting. Phew. Hope the front/headlights turn out cool. I'm just having a hard time letting go of the flip-ups.

The car looks great, just like the c5.I think a lot of c5 owners have just decided to hang on to their cars a little longer unless gm comes up with a special c5 trade in offer.then They could sell the new c6 and the used c5's

I can't view it. "Big Brother" is blocking the site here at the office. Could someone post it here if it's not too much trouble? Sorry for the bother......

Thanks a lot! I had not seen the rear pic....that looks sweet!
I see they moved the back-up lighting to the lower, black molding on either side of the exhaust. Pretty cool.
The more I look at it, the more I love it! I know I'm probably going to get stoned or smacked around for saying this but, if you stare long enough, this new C6 screams "Ferrari." From the rear-quarter at least. I'm still eager to see the new front-end. Without the pop-ups, I'm worried the front will look too "friendly." As if it's smiling at you while coming down the road. That's not the image we Vette owners want (IMO). The C5 looks bad-azz. Depending on the positioning of the bulbs within the clear lense, this thing might look as if it's saying, "Beep, beep, hi.":(
Let's hope for the best,
Kenny

There's a lot of early C4 in that rear.

Looks like the indented "Corvette" logo that use to be between the taillights, might now be on the lower right??? :confused

I am in love!!!! It looks like there is something indented in the bottom right hand rear bumper. Looks like there is something written there. Maybe it says Corvette. I like the rims, but there does not appear to be a Vette emblem in the center cap. I also agree that the rear bumper has alot of early C4 in it.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the rear was "Cadillac Cien". With the lip and the edge, I still think they look a little similar (granted, not as much, but still....) Take a look HERE (http://www.edge-inc.net/cars/index.cfm/page/cat/cid/1/t/cadillaccien.htm) to view some shots of the Cien show car. Round it out, make it a little more smoothe, and could we be looking at the rumored Z06 (or ZL1 SuperVette)?
reubenmc
11-21-03, 05:22 PM
I don't think it's the ZL1. On the other pictures of the body work it appeared to have fender flairs. This one doesn't look like it has em. You would think the fender flairs would be on the ZL1 to fit some wider tires.

I should have been a little more clear in my post. I don't think the maroon car is anything but the base model. I was talking about taking the C6 pic, molding it with the Cien show car, and poof!

This car’s style is another smart move by GM. Too bad they missed the 50th Anniversary with it. It looks like a C5 with an extreme makeover. Not too drastic but just different enough to spice things up. There's a lot of heritage there. All the C’s are represented. If the price does not jump up a lot for the C6 it seems to me that there will be many discounted C5s on dealer lots net spring.

Where are the back up lights?
The pictures of the rear bumper lack backup lights, and a frame around the license plate.
Car appears to be a little unfinished, could be an early pre-pilot or a manufacturing assembly test car.
Any thoughts?
those rims are almost a total copy of the ferrari f355 spider very very close but in my opinion gm finally out did themselves on something it has been way to long since they had a car this nice, I was almost thinking about going over the the darkside ya know f*** kinda scary thought, but I still have my two chevs.

The picture has a bad angle. If you look at the side picture here:
http://www.c6vettesales.com/c6magredrealdealcroped.jpg
You can see the backup lights in the black plastic area in the rear of the bumper next to the exhaust.

If you go to the other thread "The Real McCoy" one of our brothers did some photochopping and gave the vette some new colors. And a fine job he did.
The rear end I think looks a lot like ferrari, which I don't mind. It looks way better than the C5 bland bulk. In one of the pics, you can just see the top side of the headlights if ya look close. They look good. I'd love to see the angel-eyes that bimmers have. I hink those look sweet coming down the road. I'm still not completely sold on the front clip though. It's not quite as "bent in the middle" as previous spy shots, but something needs a hair tweaking.
I loved the frontend on the C5 Tigershark that GM produced. It'd be cool if it was that front end.

The C6 looks great and it has alot of different "corvette" styling.I can't wait to see the front end. That color is awesome too!Anybody here have a clue as to when the convertibles will be available?

There may be some final tweaks before the production begins. I like the round tail lights.
However, I do have to say the angularity and size of the cove made me think Mustang. Maybe these are more functional than those on the C5.

Convertible will be available for '06 model year along with new Z06.
I'm so very very happy to see that the rear end was fixed. Sorry to all C5 owners but the only reason why I don't want a C5 is the rear. The C5 powertrain is fantastic and the front end is awesome, the best front end of any corvette in my opinion, but that fat ugly butt is totaly disgusting to me! It's like they ran out of time or something and just quit thinking toward the END!
Based upon these photos, I'll be getting a C6 for sure!
Is it just me or does it seem a little convenient that someone was able to get these pictures? I find it a little difficult to believe with all the security there has been around the C6, that they would leave the actual car uncovered on a truck as it rolled through town. Having said that if this is the real C6, I will be camping out at my local dealer till it becomes available.

I was wondering the SAME thing...if someone knows the photographer and can ask him WHERE the shot was taken in San Francisco I will drive up there and see if I can see those buildings and background...make sure everything lines up all kosher...

Looks sweet, however rather than Ferrari I see 'Viper' when viewing the side shot taken from slightly rear of the passenger door.
I agree, does seem strange that Chevy would allow this to be uncovered when it's simple to camo
If this is the raal deal it's much better than I thought it would be by earlier spy shots. Those made me a little queasy ; )

Yes I have always felt that the Viper and Ferrari had the Corvette look to them so who looks like who here?

GM already confirmened that the car in the San Fran pics was the C6.

I have to admit that this C6 looks real cool. BUT:
It doesn't make the sort of "shock" that the C4 or the C3 did. To me, it looks like an improved C5, no more.
I'm waiting for some pics of the front end - If it really has fixed headlights, I hope that an aftermarket manufacturer will provide pop-up assemblies.
The wheels don't look great to me, even if the low-profile tires are adding a touch of class and racing-style to the car.
Anyway, it looks great, the rear end is absolutely fabulous, but I think that in France for example, where Corvettes aren't known as well as in the US, the coke-bottle shape of my 1981 shark will go on looking more impressive than the C6...
Maybe a C7 will look good in my box, in 2008-9...
(sorry for my bad english)

I know the General confirmed the car is a C6...I would like their comment on the pictures that started all this...the ones of the fiberglass car in the boatshop...
Those pictures came out and caused a big fus then out come these pictures of a pretty car on a hauler...GM says it was for a commercial...I can't tell you the last time I saw a commercial for a Corvette.
And if if was shot in San Francisco, I don't know where and why...I haven't been on too many Corvette cruises in S.F. and can't imagine a place to drive one in a commercial...It is a GREAT place for STILL photos, however...
...and I haven't heard anymore about the car in the boat shop. It had a better looking body if you ask me...what were the rear FENDER FLARES..the car on the hauler doesn't have flares...are the boatshop pics of the Z06 maybe? What is GM's comment about those pictures?
AND, I still am offering to confirm the hauler shots if someone can tell me where in S. F. they were taken. I think the poster who put them up was new...where is he now? Where did he get the pics. SOMEONE had to TAKE the pictures...
<sigh>
oh well...the show is coming up soon...I just want to know about the car with the flares...I would wait if I knew there were coming...

The pictures were taken by Islandhopper on the CF: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=692895
He said (in another thread) he had to take the pictures down since he exceeded his bandwidth big time : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=694336

Perhaps GM was refering to a magazine advertisement or maybe they plan on putting out a C6 commercial.

GM had TV ads for the C5 right when it came out, and the C4 when it came out.
C6 Z06 will be a wide body. Fender flares were hopefully a pre production idea that will give way once the wider rear fenders are available for testing and production. (Z06 C6 version)
GM to invest $10 million in new Mich. engine plant
Wed December 17, 2003 03:46 PM ET
DETROIT, Dec 17 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) will invest $10 million in a new Wixom, Michigan, plant that will build high-performance engines beginning in the summer of 2005, the world's largest automaker said on Wednesday.
GM declined to provide any specifics on the engine, the vehicles they would be used in or the size of the facility and the number of people it will employ. "It's a low volume facility," GM spokesman Keith Yaden said.
But analysts speculated that the plant would build V-12 engines, GM's entry in a battle for more powerful engines from automakers. GM said a year ago that it would put a 7.5-liter V-12 engine, capable of more than 500 horsepower, in a future low-volume Cadillac.
"My guess is they're probably going with the V-12," said Eric Fedewa, an automotive analyst with CSM Worldwide. "That's the only one that makes sense."
The V-12 would be the first for Cadillac since 1937. Cadillac officials have said that they want to move the brand upmarket with a vehicle in the $100,000 price range in the future.
