View Full Version : Detroit Auto Show,.. Are we going?
Ok I have been getting lots of e mails from CAC members about the Show. What if and I mean What if.... We had a gathering at the show in January. The show dates are Jan 10-19 with earlier dates for the press and auto employees. Please list your name and e mail address here or e mail me at the usual rlk227@aol.com Of course everyone will need to get to Detroit and Cobo hall on there own.
I could block some hotel rooms in the area if they are needed. I will also see what I can do to get us in on the earlier GM days depending on how many sign up. Now lets see what happens.

I'm game. Email's on the way.

Sounds like a good idea.:beer
I'm going to try and make it if I can. Depends on what day. My email is listed in the CAC info.
Im also thinking we can have a Dinner one night at some place easy to get to maybe the MGM Grand casino, or some kind of Buffet that would be the easier way to do a group dinner I think.

You will see the car long before the show opens. The show opens for the press 5 days before the public. It will be all over the TV be sure.

Ross, I hope your right, for the first time in 15 years I am going to miss the LA Auto Show because my wife is dragging me to Brazil! What a great show it should be. I went last year before it opened with the VIP Tickets and it was great, I was also there when they unveiled the Red C5 with those two disc jockeys!

If a buffet is what your after, let me recommend the Motor City Casino rather than the MGM. Best buffet style meal I've ever eaten - with enough variety to satisfy anyone!

The North American International Auto Show web site is www.naias.com and phone number is 248-643-0250. The show opens to the public on Saturday, January 10, 2004. The night before is the black tie Charity Preview, which costs $400 per ticket.
Cost: $12 for adults, $6 for seniors over 65, and children 12 and under are free with a parent.
The show is held at Detroit's Cobo Center in Detroit. Hotels in the area will fill up fast, and are expensive. Detroit's major airport is about 24 miles NW of Detroit in Romulus, Michigan. Most major chains have a hotel with free shuttle service near the airport.
Hope this helps.
Zippy :) :)
Remember to take lots of photo's for us UK based people who can't make it to the show!!!

hehehehe I was thinking more of a Super 8 in the Burbs! :)
I received this in my mail the other day, but didn't think of posting it at the time; seeing Ross' post reminded me. Maybe someone here is interested. ;shrugAs most of you already know, the C6 Corvette will be unveiled to the public for the first time on January 10, 2004, at the NAIAS in Detroit. I’ve been able to secure a block of rooms for our members at the Crowne Plaza hotel near Detroit’s airport for a discount rate of $89 plus 14% tax, per room, per night. The CP provides free shuttle service to/from the airport, and offers a lounge, restaurant, heated indooor pool, gift shop, etc. To reserve a room simply call the hotel directly at 734-729-2600 or toll free at 1-800-227-6963.
For this discount please mention “C-5” Registry when making your reservation.
There will be an additional cost of transportation to/from Cobo Center (show site). That cost will be determined by number of attendees.
The Crowne Plaza can not hold these rooms much longer, so if your interested please call in your reservation.

Due to the fact that I moved a similar thread from the C6 forum to the Off Road Lounge, I realized that I should move this one as well. Sometimes I just don't see the big picture. :duh
At any rate, both threads should see a lot more exposure in here - EVERYBODY comes in here at some point in their visit. :CAC

Moving back to C6 Forum from Off Road Lounge...
BEND OVER Ken.. :Buttslap ;)
The curious thing is, the thread with the question as to why his post was moved and yours wasn't, is gone now. Or at least I can't find it. It's probably been deleted by the originator, whoever that was. ;shrug
Move this... Move that... Move it here... Move it there... Move it back... :eyerole
THATS IT??? no one wants to come??? :(

Wish I could, but got a conference to attend in Chicago the following week. Therefore, no wheels to get me to Detroit.
