For those using the Passport 8500,

For those of you who are using the Passport 8500 radar detector, AND who have used the rear view mirror mount,
What did ya do about the smart power cord?

Is there a 2nd power cord that you used and you just dont take advantage of the smart cord?
Or is yours a model Pre-Smart cord?

Etc etc etc

I didn't see any advantage in the smart cord. Mine is hardwired.

I dont have mine yet. Ordered it today. Should have it in time for the trip this weekend.

Ordred the rear view mirror mount. If I dont like it, will attempt to return it or sell it on ebay.

Smart cord , from what i was reading, simply allowed you to shut off all lights on the detector and rely on the power cord display for activity. Guess so you either dont have lights flashing in your face, or so the Law cant see that you have the detector...
am I close?
