I think the spelling is Avelate. I know I saw pics on Digital Corvette photo gallery. Try that.

You may have heard of John Cafaro, the Chief Designer of the C5, the most successful Corvette ever built, checkout his C5 Mods at www.skunkwerkes.net.

He has also built the Speedster which was last seen at the last SEMA Show in Las Vegas, along with the Z06 Spyder, a true C5 Z06 Convertible ragtop, and he also designed the Skunk Werkes Body Kit.

Thanks for the link John to Skunkworks. They look nice, but $50,000-$60,000 for just that Spyder conversion without any engine mods Dayum.

Here are some other Avelate links
http://www.dupontregistry.com/direct...teCorvette.asp
http://www.corvettecavalry.com/avelate.html
http://www.cfca.net/events/ultimate_...s/image49.html

No offense to anyone who has/likes these, but man that doesn't do it for me

$60,000 is what I heard for that conversion, I can think of a lot of things I could do to my car for less than that.

I'm into the performance side and not the looks/show side, sorry I am so biased. I'll take 900+hp anyday for that kind of money instead of one of those conversions.

ZZRider, I am with you (Performance over Looks). A stroker 383 with supercharger, Yank torque converter (I suffer from tendonitis in my left knee, so no clutch for me), ProYank 4L60 transmission (700 ft/lbs), 3.90 rear with cryo-treated gear set, etc. - 9 second, 155 mph 1/4 mile; now that gets my attention. This whole lot of performance items can be had for less than $60,000.

Default convert zo6

the conversion cost for a zo6 to a ragtop is only $13,000,
the prices you saw were for the finished zo6 cars

Hi,

The prices listed on the www.skunkwerkes.net website are for complete cars, the Speedster, and the 2 (two) Z06 Spyders. The specific options for the 3 (three) cars were also listed under each description, and various engine and exhaust options are also available as well, including a 5 point harness and different bucket seats. You will find pictures of these items under the "Garage" link on the left side of the webpage.
