Not bad or just plain stupid???
I've been going over the idea (for about a year now) of purchasing and installing the faux, Z06-style rear-brake cooling ducts on my coupe. I initially wanted to buy the functional ducts but I'm not for cutting into the rocker panel of my vehicle. More than likely I would take it to the local Corvette-only dealer/shop and have them do the installation......but that will tack on $70/hr. (labor) to the already $280+ I have to spend on the ducts. My only worry is the value of my car depriciating if I install the stick-on version. What should I do? Spend $80 bucks and get the style/look that I'm going for or be a man, suck it up and spend the $400+ on the real deal? Help me out, People!

I agree,
it's your vette, do what makes YOU happy!
Were it me...I'd trade it in and get a Z06. How much more expensive can it be?

Nah...I like my simple, 25 year old vette that's paid for. The new vehicles have too many buttons for my liking.
However...I would sure like to get Kenny his OWN vette and I know he'd love a Z06.

i say suck it up and cut a hole in it to make them work. if you jsut stick them on you could say you officially joined the "ricer" class of corvettes. make them work or leave them on the store shelf

Heidi:
I wish it were that simple! Most importantly, I don't like hardtops. When they start putting the LS6 in a coupe body, then I'll buy. Also, the depriciation of my car in the past year is so dramatic, it's going to cost me a fortune to get out of it (i.e. trade or sell out-right). I'm not ready to dig into my savings account just yet. It's been 2 mos. since I've driven my current Vette. I don't want to spend more money on something I'm not going to drive. I'm hoping by Dec. I'll have enough saved up to sell it.
I'm convinced. I'll spend the doe and "do the right thing!"
Thanks everyone,
Kenny

I wish buying a new car were simple, too.
This is why I prefer my older one, even with all its' 'old age' problems and having to replace so many systems on it. I just can't wrap my mind around how much depreciation there is with new vehicles. I find it boggling!
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I agree. Three of my last four purchases have been new vehicles and I've taken a hit each time. I told myself recently that I will never buy new again. I'll let someone else take the hit and buy pre-owned from now on.
Thanks, Heidi.

Always plan to keep what you buy and you will never have to worry about depreciation. Any car I buy (I have 4) I intend to keep a minimum of 10 years.
It is called long term value.
Besides......think about it......we're talking corvettes here.

Thanks for the link. That's about $100 cheaper than I've seen anywhere. Definitely appreciate this!
