I'm going to be 31 when I am buying my C5. I have a great record (saved it up for the Corvette) and a great insurance company with life, home and auto in one premium. (Liberty Mutual).

Can anyone post some "near numbers" or what they are paying per year for a '97 - '03?


I'd appreciate it.

Currently we pay $117/mo full coverage for a 1998 Saturn and my 1994 Caprice Classic (LT-1)!

Yes, I've been stretching the Caprice out until I could get my Vette!

I pay about $585 every 6 months through Farmer's on my 2001 vert. That's in AZ where the rates are high because only 60% of cars on the road are insured.

I get an ultra-preferred discount, have another vehicle insured and also my house.

My liability limits are at 100/300.

Of course, according to my ploicy, I don't drive the car daily. That would go up by about $100 or so if I changed the policy, but hey, I didn't drive it to work for the 1st year and a half, and they didn't mention this discount until I threatened to walk, so I look at this as evening things out.

They always find me some magical discount every year when I threaten to go with someone else

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - just turned 34 last week.

Seems we are in similar situations. I have decided to keep my Caprice insured as it would be my "daily" and my wife's 2003 Subaru will also be a driver so the Corvette would easily qualify for the "not driven daily" car....

Do they check mileage at all?

I know what you say about the "magic discount", we get those too... isn't it amazing?

I insure mine through inainsurance.com cost $345.00 per year, its not my daily driver and I am 28.

Here in B'ham, AL, I have a 2-car policy with Cincinnati Insurance, through a local agent. The other vehicle is a 1995 Ford Bronco. For reference, I just turned 29 on September 4. When I initially had my 1998 Vette, I was paying $2001/yr for both vehicles. Just before it came time to renew, I inquired about going a certain number of years without a speeding ticket, and since I had cleared that time, I was eligible for a 10% or $200 discount. So it would have been $1801 starting Sept. 15th.

...But, I had a bit of a mishap back in August, and I had to forfeit that $200 discount and tack on another ~$180. So, for my Bronco and newer 2000 Vette, I now pay $2181.

Forgot to mention: My liability limits are 250/500/100, and my deductible is $500.

Got my 2000 vert insurured with AAA. I was surprised to see that the rates were fairly resonable on a "sports car", $987 year $500 deductable and 100/300 limits.

They have never checked the mileage. I think my policy allows for something like up to 10k a year - which I am under, but not for much longer. I used to commute from AZ to NJ every week for work - so I only drive the car on weekends for the 1st year and 8 months. Now I have local work and drive it to work and back (and deduct milage as a business expense!)

I'll be moving in a few months to a new zipcode though, so I'd imagine that my rates will go up when I have to tell the the milage. But, my homeowner's will go down (new house), so I think it will all even out. The ultra-preferred was the really big discount.

My other vehicle is a 73 Bronco - I have liability only for about $180 every 6 months. I only drive that to work occasionally since it's really an off road vehicle. No top, no doors, no firewall insulation, no A/C, no stereo - you get the point! No need for full coverage on that - I'll win any collision - except maybe with a semi (and a tree once!)

The funny thing is that my fiancee has higher rates on her 2001 Toyota Solara than I do on my Vette. Mine are low beacuase of my credit though.

Anyone have advice for those of us who have teenage drivers?

Our 16 year old has been excluded from the corvette policy, and insurance is still killing us !!!!

Right now I have the vette on a seperate policy (Progressive) because Cotton States would not write it with a 16yo in the household. My renewal is $5,292/year.

Best quote so far is from Nationwide and that is $4,464/year with a $500 deductible with 100/300/100 limits.

2003 Corvette Coupe
2003 Lincoln Navigator
2003 Ford Mustang
1995 Ford Ranger (liability only)

Believe it or not...they are all pleasure vehicles since my husband and I work from home. The daughter drives the "rustang"!

Also, any experiences with Nationwide would be helpful.

This isn't because I'm not a Ford guy, but replace the Mustang with something more like a Subaru or Saturn... that might help in the swing...

... of course, I am FAR from an insurance expert other than to say when our boy is 16, he isn't driving any of my cars, because we all know that the boys will wreck their first car or thier parents car between 16 and 18. It is just there looming!

With the vette pleasure only, Taurus and Z as work cars for the wife and me, and 16yr old son as driver on the 89 Camaro with Liability only ($840 of total.) I'm 46, wife is 39. Ain't kids great.
He's never driven the vette, but he get's the Z once in awhile.

I have had Allstate for several years and their rates were not bad when my kids where on the policy. That was from around 94 to 98. I didn't have a Corvette then but had a Lumina sedan, Jeep Wrangler, and 71 Mach 1. The kids added about $1100 a year to my policy. The bad one for insurance was the Jeep, if I remember right it was twice the rate of the other two combined... Metro Atlanta rates vary wildly by zipcode, credit score and age it seems...
