Default Z06 2003 Clutch shudder on start and death rattle when you shut car off

I Hi I am Rich and I love my 2003 Z06, I am somewhat retired and somewhat disabled by med probs this year so I needed a Z06 to make me feel better that was what my wife said. I am confused by two things that happen with the car when I take off slowly there is a general shuddering from the clutch drivetrain and when I shut the car off the drive line gives a death rattle. I have restored and driven hundreds of cars out there but untill you drive this car you are not alive, I have never enjoyed any auto as much as this car should have bought one instead of my first house. I have added a 160 thermo and borla exhaust and used the predator but cannot decide what air filter to use what about the Kn filter and box. It seems to me that the air box is not restrictive so why not just put a KN in it. Thanks Rich the old guy.

Hi there,
Based on the fact you have a new car, I would say that you should be comparing the shudder in the clutch to another Z.
As for the rattle, this is normal, given the stackup tolerancing of the driveline.
Oh, and BTW, I would be getting rid of the Predator, due to periodic updates of PCM programming from time to time. It will not help you unless you have very hefty mods.
Allthebest, c4c5

I "hear" a slight shudder/rattle upon slow takeoff but don't feel anything. The video that came with the car talks about that. Try shutting off the car without the clutch being out. You shouldn't hear the death rattle with the clutch in...

Funny thing is I have driven 5 speed Toyotas all my life and they all had this same clutch rattle. You could hear it at idle with the clutch out(disengaged). So I do not think it is endemic just to the ZO6. And I agree, this is the most badass car and about as much fun you can have in an automobile. Have fun out there.

Yes lol, I knew exactly what you meant before reading post. My 99 Hardtop did it too, so it isn't only prone to the ZO6. Could be worst,.............. somehow I don't know! I've heard some noises from my ZO6. The noise I hate more is break squeel. The ZO6 is prone to that, and more brake dust than normal too. Oh well.
For the intake selection I'd recommend the Blackwing, along with a powerduct and larger MAF ends. As for the predator, it is a great diagnostic tool. You do need more air and fuel to make it worth while for tuning.

Default CLutch noise..

Hey guys.
My name is David and I have driven many vettes over the years. The sound that has been mentioned is normal. Just drive your car and enjoy it - Remember - winter is just around the corner (Unless you are somewhere away from NYC)
