I hate to break it to you, but all of them resonate to an extent.
This is one reason they do gear mods on LT1/4, so they dont cruise in the resonance range of the exhaust.

I disagree...although mine is not an LT-1/4 ...I run Borla 3" stainless pipes and mufflers with little or no resonance. I also lined the interior with duct insulation, 1/4" sticky back foam with an aluminum covering, to rid the car of noise and heat. You can alleviate the noise if you want to.

I have Borla mufflers on my -93 LT1 with Auto trans and i have quite a bit resonance. It would be easier to live with if it was not at crusing speed, between about 1700-2500 rpm i think.
I find it sad that Borla could not design the mufflers so that it had the resonace at higher rpm's. Have read som posts here that Corsa has less resonance but have never seen/read a real and fair comparison.
But i like the sound now better than with the stock mufflers so i am sticking with Borla. On my next car i will consider other mufflers. Or an X-pipe that some claim reduce resonance??

You have a totally different setup than he does.
They key word there is 'alleviate' not 'eradicate'.
Sound deadening material can help, as do H/X pipes and extending the tips past the bumper, but youll rarely be able to totally eradicate the noise without actually plugging up one of the outlets on each side.
Which is why everyone with LT1/4 tends to go with Corsa. All 4 open at WOT allowing the same cfm flow and having little or no resonance.

Well next time you are near Toledo, drop down out of your starship and come for a ride in a vette that does not have a problem with resonance, that runs Borlas...
And all four 3" tips are open, no cross pipe, no problem with sound.

The resonance issue was tolerable until I did a HotCam and 3000 stall converter upgrade. I swear that everything got about 20dB louder.
Going to put some soundproofing in the rear soon.

At LEAST 20 db louder. But it does sound good though, doesn't it? heh heh heh. I know whatcha mean, though and I've got to get my interior insulated better too.
BTW, generally speaking, Corsas are quite a bit quieter than Borlas at cruise speeds. At WOT, about the same. Install a hot cam and some longtube headers and the neighbors down the street know everytime you fire your vette up.

This thread reminded me of something that happened yesterday which amused me and made me want a louder exhaust system...
I was going out to grab a bite to eat, so I went to Checkers (Burger fast-food joint). I was sitting in my car at the place to order, I couldnt' understand the lady inside. It was all garbled and crappy.
I kept saying "... are you there? i can't understand you... i'd like a number 3 ..." and i understood nothing she said, util she screamed, "TURN YOUR ENGINE OFF," incredibly loudly, into the speakers. I just bursted into laughter and though to myself, "self, I should make this thing louder..."
Now I'm interested in all of these posts. A friend of mine was going to get cut-outs on his camaro, are those available for Vettes? Are they horribly loud and obnoxious? are there convertable cut-outs that allow you to just open them from a switch/level on the interior when you want to go to a drive-thru and scream into the box?

You sound like you're an "ornry" one, Curious Mike.
I bet you're the type that would cruise a Walmart parking lot just to see how many car alarms your exhaust could set off. heh, heh, heh.
(Been there, done that......and you know what?.....it IS fun!)

I too have the Borlas on my LT4, and there is the dreaded resonance at cruise. I am wondering about what it would sound like if I remove the resonator. I would like it a little louder outside, the Borlas are too quiet at lower rpms. If I can do it without it getting louder inside.
