Default Did the Convertible top adjustments but.....

Did the convertible top adjustments as to try and keep the top from rubbing anymore as I saw in the postings here. Have only had the car for a month or so (had 1234 miles on it when we bought it....it's a 2000). Anyway when I saw the postings about the convertible top problem I went out and looked at ours and at that point I did not see any evidence of rubbing. A couple days ago I looked and there were the 2 rub spots as the posting discribed, (We always drive with the top down and only put the top up when it's parked) anyway, I did the adjustments as instructed...looks like I was able to adjust the pillars to the point where they do not seem to be rubbing anymore but in doing so The adjusting nuts are at the farthest counter-clockwise adjustment point...........anyway to my question..........I cleaned & poilished the 2 spots where the paint was rubbed hoping to clear it away
and what was left was very small pitting in the paint. Pretty evident that the previous owner had the same problems and somehow filled in the pitting with polish, wax, ect......so it could not be seen. Is this something that can be repaired under warr.?
I do have an extended warr. that I purchased from the local Chevy dealer. Was there a maintance notice ever put out on the problem? Would like to have as much info as possible when I take it to the dealer..........thanks...........

Well brother, join the club! I doubt if the dealer will address that issue of re-painting, but... there is a bulletin out about the black rubber seal that the top sits on. The new one is slightly crowned. Which raises the top enough to clear the body. Also you can adjust the top, which I assume you have already done. When you can slip a business card under the top at the point of contact with the seal, then the adjustment is correct.
"Cleartastic" makes an item that you can apply to protect that area, but if you are still under warranty, I would dump it on the dealer to fix! Good luck.
