I am in the process of buying my 1st vette. There is one I have in mind, a 66 nassau blue convert.
Let me start first by saying a Bloomington Gold or NCRS cert car is not my current goal, I want a good driver not a car I need to fret over when I drive her. I also am new to this so please excuse me if I come off sounding stupid.
Here are some details I have gleaned about her;
NOM but correct motor for that year, a 327 300hp with 4 speed
original paint was silver according to numbers but was repainted Nassau blue (non-lacquer) new paint job
new top and restored interior. new weather strip and re-chromed
frame is straight and rust free
all gauges work except for clock
body is reported to be un hit (how can I tell)
They want 39k for her. Is this a good price or a rip off? What would be a good counter price or one I should live with?
Car is from a dealer in Arizona(CNV) they have been in the businees since 82 which makes me feel they must be doing something fairly right.
I am open to all positive and negative feed back come what may. Would rather have reality hit me before I made a 39k jump.
I am by no means in a hurry to buy my car but that color 66 is my dream machine of my youth.

If I had 39k to spend I would by the year I wanted and build it my self ,as you will find out this car will become a Extension of you .I bought what I could afford a 75 althought my favorate year is 70-73 steel bumber ,consdering the amount of money I have put into it so far I should have waited and bought what I really wanted.
How did I end up with a vette I was going to rent a new one to take this girl out I was dating but instead I woke up saturday and said I'm going to by one,three days latter I had one ....still have the car but shes gone

Not sure how familar you are with midyears but you should swing by and check out my '65. I'll should you what to look for as this was my first vette purchase and I missed a lot of things.
I should have the car back in about 3 weeks (garage construction) and should have a lift by then so we can get up underneath.

39 I feel is high for the car allthought you say your not into the ncrs thing I would say in the 39 price range you should be able to purchase a recent flight judged car with an original motor and trans,I have a 66 and I love the car also.Most people dont notice the subtle differences but they stand out to me.Good luck and becarefull wih your money there are a lot of junks out there

The best reason to shop out here in the SW is less frame rust.
That's if the car has been here it's whole life.
Prices are lower East of the Mississippi for used 'vettes.

1- rust free chassis
2- original unhit body
3-ORIGINAL or correct match driveline and paint /trim
4- factory paperwork to confirm above
These are the items that COST the money and also return the most when you decide to sell. If there is variation from above, then the better the value.
The car you are describing, is a NON MATCHING car both in paint and trim and engine. I feel $30-32k is real value, but due to tremendous demand today for good clean mid year cars, prices are up. I just saw two ORIGINAL very nice 66 convertibles with 350hp original motors sell for $49000 and $54500. The first one was a 50000 mile original owner car. The 2nd was a 17000 mile car. Both had all paperwork, original paint and interior and original drivelines. A year ago, prices on each were in the $38-42 range. Pete at C&V does a nice job, as well as the other dealers in the US. Accept the offer to go look and learn. Read all you can. Go to shows and look at cars. Go to Carlisle in late August, and Mid America's Effingham, Ill show in September. There will be cars there for sale. Try and keep the emotion out.

I looked at that car.......they would not deal AT ALL!...they actually got mad when I asked them if that was the best price because I had another car on the line........I was dealing with a salesman named Jack...........it is too much in my opinion......they have had that car for a long time but still will not deal.? For a base engine, incorrect color car the price is too high......
I ended up with this car for $29500.00
After some disturbing off-line fedd back and talking to the sales rep, CNV is not even on the radar screen.
Way too much $$$ for too little of a machine.
