i just got a paint quote from a local body shop for the license plate cover and they wanted $140 .

i didn't realize that doing this myself was an option. can someone post what's involved in painting this myself. i'd hate to pay that much to paint a $36 part.

any info would be great.

Default $140!!! Yikes!

The Chevy dealer did it for my buddy for around $30 -$40

Ok,Ill do it for 135 That price must have been from a money hungry idiot.Black is such a common color ,give to a body shop and tell them next time they paint something else black ,paint your cover to.

since my last post, i've checked out several other body shops. highest was $80 and the lowest was $40. i think the guy at the first place was really trying to yank me.

maybe when someone comes in with a corvette, they "assume" that you're willing to spend more money, and try to take advantage of you.

paintdaddy -- good thing i checked around, i might have paid you that $135

Your on the right track .Sometimes they give outrageous prices just to get rid of you. They know you wont pay it and they really dont want to work on anything unless its an insurance job.Trust me I do the same thing to ricers.
