Anti-freeze plenum bypass......

What's up guys(& gals). I'm new to this whole LT-5 thing and noticed antifreeze lines right behind the throttle body. I'm not sure about the ZR-1, but in my '85 vette this is one of the first things I bypassed and it seemed to keep the plenum a lot cooler. Does this concept hold true on the LT-5 as well?

Jay,

I highly suggest that you do not bypass those cooling lines....especially if you are in an area that occasionally dips below the freezing point and you plan on driving the car in freezing temperatures.

Ice crystals can form on the throttle body plates shortly after startup (engine is cold) with the intake of cold air, which is the reason that Corvette Development engineers routed coolant through the throttle body. I have an email from Corvette Powertrain Engineer, Jim Ingle somewhere in my files regarding this topic.

Personally, I don't think you'll notice much of a difference in horsepower gain by bypassing the coolant lines, but that's my unprofessional opinion.
