My Corvette(s):
Default 81 rear end

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make the rear end stronger in a 81? I mean allot stronger. I have a blown 454 in my 81 that I really am afraid to put my foot into just because of the rear end. Any comments? Thanks

He has a ford 9" that he was prepping to put in his 71 at one time. Maybe he can share some ideas with you.

I had to put in a Eaton gear drive posi in mine. I think it's called Tri-loc, I kept shearing the clutch keeper's in half on the stock unit.
I havent had 1 problem with it in 5 years. I also use Royal Purple gear lub. It takes away all the gear noise. You can go to a Detroit locker but their REAL noisy, I recommend the Eaton unit. Also put in the urathane bushings.
