Default 1996 C4 sun visor question

I have not been able to look at another C4 sunvisor in person, so Im at a loss.

On the sun visor for both passenger and driver, there is about a 3 -4 inch portion of the sun visor that seems to hang loose. I simply do as the prev. owner did, and fold it under.

I assume this originally was stiff cardboard in there that eventually snapped?

Will take pics in the daylight tomorrow if this is confusing.

thanks for your time
Rain

Make a small incision then shape and stick a coat hanger in there.
That will keep the small flap from coming down.

He can't be talking about a map strap.
The tip of my visor does the same. Have read many others with this issue. We all do the same. Flip it over so it does not hang down.

Yes, you are correct. I dont think i have map straps.. hmmm
make me go out in the dark and the no-see-ums to check! haha

And guessing both visors are electric mirror'd.
Believe I will do the wire coat hanger fix.
Glad to hear its not an uncommon thing-

(gotta find time to do my TB bypass this week)
Thanks
Rain

I just bought some new visors for my 88 off ebay. They arrived today and they are nice. They are abs blastic on the inside and foam backed fabric on the outside as original. The only thing I dont like is the pass. side doesnt have the lighted vanity mirror. My daughter loves playing with that light so shes not going to be happy about that.

YOU GUYS! its supposed to be that way. The bent corner is a safety type break away thingy, they all came from the factory like that nothing is broken or snapped!

the corner is supposed to be slightly bent, not hanging down. Mine are broken, my '93's were broken, and my '87's were broken. They all fall apart eventually... just flip them over so they don't hang in your face

There is a difference between it hanging in your face though which is what we are talking about.

Its ok. I understand. Just figured Cfour (BI) was making a joke. At least thats how I took it.
Not many of us are blessed enough to have multiple vettes, and if we do, they typically arent of the same series.
So that keeps us from having hands on experience with other vettes like our own in order to do comparisons.
Hence, my question here on the CAC about the visors.

Seems they just break, and ya fold em under and deal with it..
OR
use a wire coathanger as a frame and sew up the hole you made to insert it.

Thanks guys
Rain

One of the vette magazines, not long ago, did an article on repairing the problem. I forget the details but it did involve cutting small opening and sticking in some sort of reinforcement.

Default Velcro!

I placed a strip of velcro on the back (mirror) side running from the flap(floppy) side onto the rigid side (mirror) and it holds the flap pretty straight. It works fine until I breakdown and buy new ones.

;stupid
They are made with the fold so when they are flipped up the end of the visor will mold with the corner on the roof line. They do tend to get weak though and hang.
