Default Rear Window Tinting!!

HI

On my 96 rear hatch window, l would like to have a tint put on, to help reduce the heat in the cargo area, because my Golden Retriever hangs there while l drive.

For the top, l'm going to get the static cling.

I checked the search function but there was very little info there.

Any ideas, unless l should wait for the _____ new site to be finished.

Thanks

Alan

You may want to try the forum at http://www.tintdude.com/ Lots of answers there. I wonder if he has any relationship with our own Detailing Dude?

Kingman,
I just had a professional tinter redo my back window. I had old tint that was peeling that I wanted removed and didn't want to mess up the rear defroster while trying to do it myself. It took him all day and a big pile of tint. He finally cut it into 3 sections and had to shrink it as best he could to fit the bend at the bottom of the glass where it gets smaller. It looks great. He told me when I picked the car up that he would never do another 96 hatch window. The guy has been doing it for a long time and does a great job, he thought it would go pretty easy until he came to that section of the window. For me it was well worth the extra money to go to a professional tinter who works with the stuff every day and not have the heartache of trying to get it right myself. By the way, it does make a BIG difference in how cool the car stays.

Default rear window tinting.

You can do it yourself too if you want to save money. I bought some tint off the internet. see link
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/rodi/trimlimrearw.html
start from the top. cut the strips measure & cut the strips before you seperate the film. use a little liquid soap in a spray bottle. clean window carefully. Don't do it in the sun !!! Don't do it if there is any wind !!! when seperating the film spray the crap out of it with the spray bottle. don't allow it to touch the carpet or fold back on itself. Overlap the second & the continuing rows by 1/4 inch. Spray the crap out of the glass before applying each row too. Make sure you have the rubber squeegie on hand & a sharp razor blade. thats about it I guess. & take your time...
