Default Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS)

My 2003 had just come in 4-11-03 Ordered it 1-31-03. Prior to it's arrival I ordered a CAGS Plug from Mid. Amer. I can't seam to find any purpose for it. I have no problems shifting from 1st to 6th using all the gears. 3rd and 4th work fine. Any comments?

Also I ordered the option F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control. I can't seam to be able to tell the difference from the selection control tour or sport position. I'm thinking you must have to be on road course competing? I have yet to break the car in. I sold my 87 Vette, It had the Z51 package The 03 rides just about as hard. Anybody have any input?
Thanks
Ed

i find the cags on my 98 to be a nuisance sometimes, but not all the time. it really depends on how i'm driving the car. if i drive it hard, i never invoke the 1st to 4th shift, if i'm driving it mellow, it can be a real pain. i'm going to be ordering the bypass plug pretty soon.

CAGS has gotten to the point that its software is very unintrusive unless you are the type of lazy or uneducated driver who short shifts out of first gear. Actually, none of the C5s really need the CAGS Plug, IMO. A lot of people buy them because they feel better knowing they've taken control of that aspect of the car, but the fact remains, the system is not intrusive. Now, back in the dark ages (early six-speeds in C4s) the system was problematic at times but, by 93 or so, I think GM had the software down-pat.

The transistion between tour and sport is very subtile unless you are driving very hard. That said, if your car feels stiff and harsh, go back to the dealer and have them make sure F55's "shock stuffers" were removed during the pre-delivery process. It's been a common problem for dealers to forget to take them out. The stuffers are needed during transport to prevent damage to the car during shipping when the ign. is off and little or no damping is available from the shocks.

last night, i installed the cags bypass and i love it. with the kind of traffic i drive in, it's a nice thing to have. i'm glad i don't have to deal with the car driving me anymore:s...whether it's occasioinal or often.

ed, thanks for all your help.

I'm with you all the way! Return that thing and get your $20 back! If you have an interest in shifting the car into second at 1200 RPM's then hang onto it! If you are going to drive the car like a Corvette should be, return the piece and save $20. You obviously know how to drive a Corvette if you have found no use for that $20 resistor!
Glad to hear someone that found no need for that thing!
