Default Chirping Tach or Speedo?

Hey guys. I own a 71 350 4speed. Tell me what you think this chirping sound is. After driving for 15 minutes or so, a chirping sound, for lack of a better description, starts out little and few, then continues to get worse and more consistent. The sound speeds up with rpm's and slows with rpms. It doesn't do it at idle, but will usually do it if I rev the motor up out of gear. Does this sound like tach or speedo, and what in the world do I do to fix it? Thanks so much.........

I had the same problem with my 72. Replaced the Tach cable and chirping stopped. Make sure to properly grease the replacement cable before you install it.

Also, the proper lube for the tach and speedo cables is dry graphite lubricant. Alot of people use lithium grease or regular wet type lubes, but the dry stuff will ensure the longest possible life for you cables. You can pick up a can at any auto. store.

Thanks guys. I already tried the dry graphite, but my cable was damaged already. When I install a new one I intend to go dry as well.
