My Corvette(s): 1993 Black 6spd, ported LT1 hds, comp cam | favorite battery brand?
You know it's been too long a winter for the 'vette when:
1). You can't find the keys (took me hours to find the primary set w/fob attached)
2). When, using the back up key, you get in, and the car won't even turn over.
With that, may I ask you all for recommendations of a good battery brand? What
lasts a long time and fits in the c4?

I feel your pain - 2 of 3 started though... I just replaced the one battery LAST Spring and here we go again...
I want to use an optima brand however, I think I will look for a 2nd tray to bolt in as I don't want to "CUT" the original one to have it fit - You trim tab's I am told...
...Is it Spring yet | |

Get an Optima battery. Most Optima batteries last 3 times normal lead acid batteries, and withstand 15 times as much vibration. Many customers have received 10+ years from an OPTIMA battery in normal starting applications.

Been hearin' lots about Diehard's lately. Just had one go bad in a Benz that wasn't 2 years old yet. Anyone else have bad luck with Diehards?

My Corvette(s): 1994 Black Rose Coupe | NOT Exide !
To much trouble with Exide and a customer service that cares less. Not worth saving a few bucks.
I will stick with Diehard as I have used their batterries all my life with no problems. (then again I usually only keep cars a year or two)
I have been hearing about this Optima battery and want to look into it? At first I thought it was something from Radio Shack

I store 3 cars over the winter, 2 Vettes w/Diehards and a 96 Impala SS w/orig. HD battery. Every year before putting them back in, it goes without saying I have to charge them. Any battery will go dead just sitting in the car or on a shelf if not used periodically. Has anyone noticed that when you buy a battery at, say Sears, they usually charge it before you get it? Like the previous post, get the 5 yr battery and the warranty has it covered. Just my "rich-ass' 2 cents.................................

Sothpaw, sorry to hear about your problem... remember, though, it's just your Vette's way of saying "DRIVE ME!!!!" .
I personally use Diehards in all my cars, and have only had a problem with one (went bad within the first month). I tend to get 5-6 years out of them, and that's usually on a 4-cyl (which is supposedly harder on batteries for some reason). I get the Diehard Gold. One big advantage to Sears (or other similar brand) is that it's easily available and easily replaceable if needed.
That said, I've also heard good things about Optima, though I've never bought one.

I will never again use a Diehard battery. I think I went through at least 3 Diehards in my 79. I now have an AC-Delco battery and it is super good. No problems at all. I remove my battery for the winter and keep it in the house. I also hook it up to a trickle charger on occasion, just to keep it fully charged. No more starting problems.

Interstate MegaTron. Been using them in my cars since I got my license. Never a problem and always start. Have a Group 78 in my 77 Pontiac GP that sits in the cold outside in winter and even with the sub zero temps we been having here in NH I can let it sit for 3 weeks and it will crank the car over No problem. Got a MegaTron Plus in my Vette.

My Corvette(s): 1993 Black 6spd, ported LT1 hds, comp cam | who sells what?
Where would I get the optima?
What about the megatron?
The AC delco? (I had one in my F-body when I bought it, 7 years
old, gotta like that)
Will all these fit the '93 vette with no cutting?
Has anyone had extended experience with the Advanced auto
parts brand? I have that on the F-body now.

You should be able to find an Interstate Battery dealer near you thru the phone book. They are nationwide.

Lots of good experiences with Diehard batteries.
I hear that the AC Delco batteries are even better, but I have no experience there.
