I ordered an Edelbrock 2101 intake today from Summit. Since I have the distributor out I thought I would replace the cap, rotor and maybe coil depending on your suggestions. My engine is stock except for dual exhaust, the new intake and deleted egr and other emission related items. I was leaning towards the stock AC-Delco cap and rotor. Would a performance cap-rotor and perhaps a coil from l Accel or some other outfit be a waste of money? What do you guys think?
thanks in advance................................Dave

Dave,
I could not tell if the new 50K volts coil made any difference. It would make a good test setting at the chassis dyno, though.
Nevertheless, my gut feeling is that a noticeable difference is not really achieved until one upgrades to a multi-spark controller.
Reliability?? perhaps, fuel econonomy??? quite possible; (and I don't mean to lure anyone into that old debate). However, power increase I would be very doubtful that the 50K volts coil could provide that.

Thanks Gerry. I think I will just go with the standard AC-Delco cap and rotor.
